Frequently asked questions
How do I connect a store?
Open the Connect tab and pick a store. NoteNote explains what it will read, then opens the store’s own website inside the app, where you sign in to your own account. NoteNote never sees or stores your password. After you sign in, NoteNote reads your order history (items, prices, dates) so your usuals fill in on their own.
To stay connected, the store’s sign-in is kept on your phone for up to 30 days, and NoteNote checks for new orders about once a day while you use the app. To disconnect, open the store in Connections and tap Disconnect. You can also delete the purchases NoteNote imported from it.
Why does a connected store show no items?
A few common reasons:
- you haven’t ordered from that account recently, or your in-store purchases aren’t linked to it (for example, you didn’t scan your loyalty card or use the store’s app at checkout);
- the store’s sign-in expired — open the store in Connections and sign in again;
- the store changed its website, or doesn’t show item details for some orders. Stores control their own sites, so some connections read more detail than others.
In the meantime, you can always scan a receipt instead. If a store keeps showing nothing, email support@notenote.com and tell us which store.
How does receipt scanning work?
Tap Scan a receipt and take or choose a photo. The photo is uploaded to NoteNote’s private storage and read by our text-reading providers, Google (Gemini) and Amazon Web Services, to pick out the store, date, items, and prices. Those items are added to your purchase history, and the photo is stored privately with your account.
For the best result, lay the receipt flat in good light and get the whole thing in frame. If a receipt won’t read, email support@notenote.com.
How do households work?
A household is a shared list for the people you shop for. Your personal list stays on your phone; the household list is shared with everyone in the household. Invite members by username, and anyone can add or check off items.
When you tap Start shopping, your household gets a “need anything?” notification so they can add to the list. If you allow location while using the app, your phone shows your household the name of the store you’re at (for example, “Kroger · Nolensville Pike”) — only during the trip, and your exact location never leaves your phone.
You can also turn on Tell my household when I’m at a store in your household settings. With location set to “Always,” NoteNote notices when you arrive at a store you’ve shopped at, even when the app is closed, and tells your household which store. Only the store name is shared. Turn it off anytime in the same place.
How do I add the widget?
On iPhone, touch and hold an empty space on your Home Screen, tap Edit → Add Widget, search for NoteNote, choose a size, and tap Add Widget. You can also add NoteNote to your Lock Screen. On Android, touch and hold an empty space on your Home Screen, tap Widgets, find NoteNote, and drag the widget into place. The Widgets tab in the app walks you through it.
How do I delete my data or my account?
In the app, go to Profile → Privacy & data. From there you can see what NoteNote knows, manage connected stores, export your data, or delete your account. To remove one store’s purchases, open it in Connections. Deleting your account removes your account, household memberships, purchase history, store connections, and receipt photos.
Already uninstalled the app? See Delete your account, or email support@notenote.com from the address on your account and we’ll take care of it.
